Thank You For You Wayne Dyer

Wayne Dyer

I have spent hours today contemplating whether to write a blog about this amazing man who passed away yesterday. There are literally millions of social media posts today from Oprah and Tony Robbins to nobody famous all around the planet. He was a celebrity. But this celebrity is not like so many shallow beings whose goal is to be famous (can you spell Kardashian?). Wayne Dyer was the “Real Deal” and I want to honour him in my own way even though it seems remarkably predictable.

Just on the off chance you are not completely familiar with this great man, look him up on the search engine of your choosing but he is known by many monikers, one being “A Self-Help Guru”. I have to be truthful here; I am not a big fan of the genre that is known to so many and takes the form of, for example, Anthony Robbins. I know this seems quite hypocritical considering I have been a “Motivational Speaker” since 1981. What I mean is not meant to be judgmental either. If Tony Robbins changed your life, awesome. I saw him in Calgary and I actual left the venue but not because I was so offended…I had a gig that day at another site in town. My point is, I wasn’t mad I had to leave. Is Mr. Robbins successful? Mega! Am I jealous? Not even the least bit. Honest. I have great admiration for his and his company’s success but as my Dad used to say, “It’s not my cup of tea!” Simply stated, the Tony Robbins of the world are too hyper for me and their sessions involve way too much clapping and singalongs for my taste, that’s all. I’m sure there are countless people who have left my show without being touched like I would hope they could, but personal preferences are paramount. I preferred Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Here are a few of his quotes:

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”

“How people treat you is their karma, how you react is yours”

“Be miserable. Or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done it’s always your choice”

“The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don’t know anything about”

“Abundance is not something we acquire, it’s something we tune into”

“You cannot be lonely if you like the person you are alone with”

These are just a few of my favourites and the last one in particular resonates for me. Please ask yourself if you live by these beliefs and if not, why not? Please remember that I have no arms and as you may guess, I have dealt with some anger and blame in my life, particularly in adolescence but today, I am at peace with my being and feel my life is full of bliss and abundance. I live every day in a state of gratitude. Do you? If not, why not?

Thank you Dr. Dyer…missed but never forgotten. A life well lived and a new journey for you to discover. Namaste.

  • Thanks Alvin – He was my hero too – I own and have read 7 of his books which I see on my bookshelf right now – In my younger years there were two of Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s books that really helped me understand myself, my family, and my friends: “Pulling Your Own Strings” & “Your Erroneous Zones”, – I had bought many copies and gave them to friends, family, and people I worked with that I thought would get something out of them – as I had.
Rest In Peace and Thank you Wayne !!

  • Alvin, I don’t think there could possibly be too many posts written about Dr. Dyer and his legacy… Thank you for sharing yours.

I had to comment because the quote you noted that stuck out to you in particular is the same one that has been my favourite as well. (I also included it in my post: https://josephranseth.com/12-transformational-quotes-to-honour-the-legacy-of-dr-wayne-w-dyer/)

Thanks again for sharing. Look forward to seeing you again at the CAPS convention this year!
